Today is a day of exploration dedicated to the mythical Borobudur temple. Dating from the 9th century, Borobudur is the largest Buddhist temple in the world and is located in central Java. Restored in 1970 with the help of UNESCO, the temple consists of six square platforms surmounted by three circular platforms. It is decorated with no less than 2,672 relief panels and has 504 Buddha statues of different types. The main dome is in the center of the upper platform and is surrounded by 72 stupas, each containing a statue of Buddha. It is only on a personal visit that you will be able to appreciate its vastness and breathtaking design.
After breakfast, departure for a long transfer to Malang. On the way, you will pass by a long and winding road with different views from local villages, rice fields, hills with plantations and mountains. When you arrive in Malang, lively streets with some colonial architecture will welcome you.
Today, transfer to Bromo via Pasuruan&Probolinggo. On the way, you will stop at various places such as Malang Art Deco, Malang City Square, TokoOen Malang, KajoeTangan Church, Bird and Flower Market, Tugu Square, Historic Tugu Hotel, Singosari Temple, Wonosari Tea Plantation, and Madakaripura Waterfall.
Departure very early before sunrise. You will leave the hotel by Jeep to get to the viewpoint and wait for the beautiful golden sunrise. Then, head towards the sea of sand (PasirBerbisik) to reach the parking lot of Mount Bromo. It is in the middle of a plain called SearaWedi or sea of sand. With its 2,329 m of altitude, the mountain may not be the highest in Indonesia, but it is undoubtedly one of the most popular. From the parking lot, you can walk to the top of Mount Bromo, where you will feel like you are walking on the surface of the moon. After visiting Mt Bromo, you will be back at the hotel for a refreshing shower and breakfast.
After breakfast, you will reach the village of Ranupani at 2 200m, to continue your hike. On the program: the ascent of the Semeru volcano, the highest point of the island of Java and one of the most active in Indonesia. Beginning of the excursion with a progressive climb through dense forests to Lake RanuKumbolo at 2 400m. Sublime landscapes with flowery Edelweiss meadows and surprising savannas before seeing the impressive giant in front of you. The trekking day ends at the Kalimati plateau at 2 700m where the base camp of Semuru is located.
To get to the top of the volcano, you'll have to walk at night. The landscape will gradually change from forest to volcanic ash. The ascent will also progress along with it... But the magical spectacle once you reach the summit will be amply justified: sunrise over Java. Descent to Ranupani to spend the night.
After breakfast, long transfer to Kalibaru, a stopover town on the way to Mount Ijen surrounded by numerous plantations. The road goes around the Argapura volcano in a green landscape with beautiful terraced crops. From Jember, the road becomes very picturesque and winds around the foothills of GunungRaung. You can either rest at the hotel or explore the coffee, clove, and cocoa plantations of Kebun Kandeg.
In the morning, meet the inhabitants and the coffee, rubber, cocoa, and sugar cane plantations that keep the region alive. With a tasting of course! Then, we take the road again in the direction of Mount KawahIjen. On the road, the hundreds of colorful boats decorated with flags at the traditional fishing port of Muncar are worth the detour.
After breakfast, direction Munduk on the island of Bali. Transfer by ferry in the morning between the two islands. Then, exploration of the unique national park: the Bali Barat. Between coastal savanna and mangroves, the park includes 200 species of plants and has an abundant fauna: pythons, macaques, deer, wild pigs, buffaloes, iguanas ... and of course 300 species of birds including the very rare Bali starling.
